A caring loving mother settlind down her child for sleep with only the light from her candlestick. A delightful scene which many of us are familiar with, however this is reminescnt of Victorian times.

The frame is a period elaborate gilt with an inner border frame.

Allison was a figure and portrait painter. Initially an art teacher, he became Inspector of Schools of Art. He exibites at the Royal Society of British Artists, of which he became an elected Member.
