Pair Japanese CLOISONNE VASES
Subject: Red-Headed CRANES amongst floriated design.
Right & Left facing as a PAIR
The art design features the Red-crowned Crane and can be found in their safe haven of Zhalong, Heilongjiang, the most northern province of China. These red-crowned cranes have a special place in Chinese culture as an ancient symbol of immortality. Pine trees and Red-crowned Cranes both being symbols of longevity can be used in wishing people a long life.
Note: I believe that these vases are of Japanese origin because of the fineness of the artwork. Whilst I have described the fact that these birds are found in China, they are also found nesting in the wetlands of Hokkaido in Japan.
